knot onfikir
"During my residency in Addis Ababa, I created the piece Knot on fikir. It consists of emotions woven in real time. Interlacing of fibers and intertwining of lives.
A canvas for the term “love” - Fikir, in Amharic -, which struggles to contain all the emotions it embraces. Knot on fikir is a tapestry linked to the body, by its manufacture and by its setting in motion. Its activation, on the islands of Frioul, represents: palpitations, twinges in the heart and great flights.
Viewer, see this piece in its entirety. Its constitution, its process, the so-called imperfections, those that I look at with affection, but which are on the whole indifferent to you. The hollows and the recesses. The smiling wrinkles and the vales of tears. I want you to love, as I love, irrepressibly, to explore, to feel, to immerse yourself. And above all, that you love to love. "
I believe in repair
BROKEN
I EXTEND LIFE
OF THE INJURED OBJECT,
I BELIEVE IN REPAIR.
I DISCOVER IMPERFECT AFFECTION,
I HUG HIM
AND THROWS ME INTO THE VOID.
IN MY FALL,
I GET RID OF INHERITANCES
AND SORE IN MY CHEST.
I CHOOSE TO LIVE,
BECAUSE IN THE END,
NO ONE ESCAPES PAIN
AND YET,
WE DON'T ALL DARE TO LOVE.
REVOLUTION LIVES IN MOVEMENT.
I BELIEVE IN REPAIR.
I believe in repair is a manifesto of the movement, linked to the deconstructions of the southern latitudes. Used both in East Africa and in Mesoamerica, the tonalities of the earth facades and the stone millstone represented evoke the connection between these two spaces.
